Alder is a medium sized tree with a conical habit which makes it very suitable for windbreaks. The leaves are a deep, glossy green with yellow catkins in the spring.
Without doubt one of the toughest tree species available as it will grow in any situation. Alder is the go to species for very wet and waterlogged soils as it’s natural habitat is bog land and river banks.
Plant Alnus glutinosa bare root between November and March.
