Multicote 14-7-14+2MgO + Micronutrients, 12 month is available here in our online shop.
Rate: 4g per litre of compost for shrubs and trees, 6g per litre for bedding tubs and hanging baskets.
Controlled release fertilisers are superb products and will transform you hanging baskets and tubs into something magnificent by providing the plants with the optimum nutrient levels all year.
Use controlled release fertilisers in potting compost, do not mix it into seed and cuttings compost… potting compost only. It can be used on outdoor beds but it’s a bit expensive to be throwing on the floor, you’d be as well using the more traditional fertilisers for your borders.
Be careful what you buy, controlled release fertiliser and slow release fertiliser are two very different products but are often confused. A slow release fertiliser is either a granule or a powder that either takes time to dissolve or it is in a form that needs to be metabolised in the soil before it becomes available to the plant. Slow release fertilisers usually only last 2-4 weeks before needing to be reapplied. Controlled release fertilisers are a granule of fertiliser covered by a semi-permeable resin coating making a prill. These prills release fertiliser into the growing medium over a predetermined period of time, usually 6, 8 or 12 months.
