For larger trees we use a Damcon root balling machine mounted on an excavator. The machine plunges 4 spades around the tree, undercuts with a large blade before lifting from the ground with the soil intact around the root system. On removal from the ground the root-ball is wrapped in biodegradable hessian and non-galvanised wire.
