DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to one of our propagation by cuttings workshops that are held in our glasshouse at Whitehall Road Nurseries. \nThe workshop will cover many aspects of cuttings propagation and we hope it will be of interest to beginners and enthusiasts alike. \nThe topics that will be discussed by our propagators are: \n\nTypes of cutting: heel\, nodal\, inter-nodal etc.\nThe most successful times of year to take cuttings for various plants.\nThe use of rooting hormones.\nPropagation media (compost to you and me!).\nHusbandry\, heated beds and irrigation.\nThe pests and diseases to look out for and how to control them.\n\nThe workshop will be 2 hours long with a gardener’s tea break of home made cakes\, tea or coffee at the half way point. After this we will have a practical session where everyone will take some cuttings which you can then take home to finish rooting. \nI you need to cancel we offer a full refund up to a week before the advertised date and a 50% refund from then on.

DESCRIPTION:After the success of last year’s Growing and Arranging Cut Flowers with Meryl\, she is returning to host a workshop on arranging spring flowers from your garden. \nThe workshop will cover how to fill your house full of beautiful spring flowers from your garden. We will use spring bulbs\, catkins\, blossoms and blooms to make beautiful flower arrangements\, bouquets and posies. \nThe workshop will be 2 hours long (please allow for some over run) and cover everything from the best plant varieties to grow and how to get the best from them\, how to harvest your flowers through to the creation of fabulous bouquets and table decorations. SUMMARY:An Introduction to Micropropagation (Tissue Culture)
DESCRIPTION:This is an Introduction to Micropropagation which will be held in our tissue culture lab at Hartshead Nurseries. This workshop is designed to provide the basic\, beginner knowledge required to propagate plants at home using micropropagation techniques with equipment that is readily available at home (pressure cooker\, large plastic box\, scalpel and some plastic soup pots). \nThe subjects covered by our propagators will include the following and will all make sense by the end of the workshop. \n\nMother plant preparation.\nSterile working techniques.\nCollection and sterilisation of propagation material (Explants).\nNutrient salts and hormones\, their uses and effects.\nPreparation of different growing media (initiation\, multiplication\, rooting).\nMethods of plant multiplication.\nRooting\, weaning and growing on ex-vitro.\n\nBy the end of the day you will have divided some plant cultures\, placed them on rooting medium in a culture vessel which you can then take home. Your plants should be ready to wean and plant into compost after 2 weeks. \nThe workshop will be 4 hours long with a 30 minute break for a bite to eat and drink which we will provide\, please let me know if you have any dietary requirements. \nMy apologies that the price is higher than usual but places are limited to only three as the subject is quite complex and our lab is very bijoux.

She uses only British blooms\, seasons allowing\, to create stunningly beautiful\, natural style arrangements that our charming English cottage garden flowers are so perfect for. \nThe workshop will cover everything from how to make a moss ring\, collecting and harvesting your foliage and flowers through to matching colours and textures to make a stunning wreath.
